6 Habits to Strengthen Your Mind

A lot of people want to become mentally stronger and more disciplined but don’t know how (or when) to do this.

There are opportunities to strengthen your mind and become more resilient all around you.

You just have to know where to look and specifically what to do.

That’s what this article is all about!

Giving you crystal-clear guidance and some simple suggestions you can put into your life right away.

Here are six habits that I personally do, which you might like to try and incorporate in your life to strengthen your mind.

1. Cold shower in the morning

This act sets the tone for my day.

I wake up, generally between 4:45 - 5:15AM and have a shower.

I start with hot water, wash myself and then turn it to full cold, for about 1 minute.

It wakes me up, makes me alert and builds resilience.

I no longer use caffeine as a stimulant straight out of the gate. Cold water does the trick!

2. Same breakfast every day

My eating habits are pretty boring. I eat very similar foods each week.

Nothing fancy or elaborate but they meet my goals. That’s what is important to me!

I eat 4 Weetbix with a scoop of protein powder and full-cream milk.

I don't love the taste, but I eat it anyway.

The most successful people in the world have routines and rituals that work for their goals.

Find what food(s) work for your goals and stick to them.

3. Listen to a podcast in the car to work

Most people hate driving to work. Not me.

It gives me a chance to develop and grow my mind by listening to something positive.

I listen to a podcast which truly inspires me. It’s called The MFCEO project.

It has made a SIGNIFICANT change in my mental state and how I think on a daily basis.

Warning: It's not for everyone and there is explicit language.

4) Thirty-minute walks

If you've been following my Instagram "stories" for any length of time, you know that I routinely walk for 30 minutes wearing a 15kg weight vest.

It’s an activity available to everybody, everywhere.

And walking isn't hard. That's why I add the extra weight.

Because not many people would do that, and I don't want to be like everyone else.

I don't want to be average or mediocre.

I want to become the best version of myself possible!

And I know I can do more than just walking with my body-weight.

5. Early bed-time

It amazes me how people stay up late and wonder why they are always lethargic, sluggish and tired.

Sleep is THE best way to rejuvenate your mind and body. Plus, it’s free!

That’s why I get to bed around 9PM every night, including weekends.

In order for me to function at the highest level possible, I need at least seven hours of sleep a night.

If I don't get that, my work suffers, I get irritated and I'm not a pleasant person to be around.

Sleep more, perform better.

6. Strength training

Lifting weights and being stronger makes everything in life easier. You can do literally everything with less effort.

It also provides you with a different perspective of what's easy and what's hard.

Lifting weights and building strength requires technique, time, effort, persistence, grit and a lot of reps.

Read: regular practice. You need that in life!

That is if you want to make things easier for yourself.

A better quality of life can be obtained by being physically and mentally stronger.

This is where the weights can become your best friend!

Which of these habits will you commit to and instill into your routine to become mentally stronger?

Pick the one(s) which resonate — or perhaps scare you — and give them a try!
