From Scrawny Kid To Strong Man

 
 

Here's the list of wins and successes Adam has had since starting on our STRONG AF Program;

  • Never set foot in a gym or touched weights prior to starting.

    • To now deadlifting 2x body weight.

  • Had no muscle on the frame in the beginning.

    • There is now a substantial amount of development (particularly in the upper body)

  • Struggled to run 500 metres without getting breathless.

    • Now able to run over 12km and will be taking part in two running events in 2023.

  • Participating in Parkrun (5km) every week and regularly achieving PBs.

  • Completed the six-hour UNCOVER event (twice). The event is physically and mentally demanding and not something I would have ever been able to complete before.

TO SAY I’M HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

  • I have surprised myself with being capable of and actually enjoying squats, lifting heavy weights and doing push-ups on my toes. 

  • My back pain after having two kids is manageable now and when it is bothering me I know that I can still have a great training session with your modifications. 

  • I am physically stronger. I feel stronger in my everyday life doing everyday things and it is noticed by family and friends.

  • My mindset is stronger and I have more energy. When You Know Things Need To Change

 
 

“I’d been whinging and moaning about my weight for a while. I felt gross and saw photos that didn’t help.

Although, probably the ‘light bulb moment’ was the blood tests and blood pressure. I’d never had blood pressure over 110/70, and it got to 145/89.

Even though I’d been overweight before, that kind of scared me.

It jolted me into action. Also, the fact that walking up the driveway puffed me out!

Also, (and this came from Jesse) was to have a clear goal that was achievable. A small one and a bigger picture.

Mine changed through the journey.

Initially, I wanted to lose 40 kilos.

But as the weight came off I altered it a bit, as I had to take into account my age, and how I wanted to look, not just focus on the number.

In relation to that, my training goals changed a bit, too.

IN MY 40’S I JUST WANTED CARDIO TO GET SMASHED AND FEEL LIKE THE WEIGHT WAS SHIFTING…NOW, I JUST WANT TO BE STRONG.

Better than yesterday” is a good motto - but don’t give up if it doesn’t pan out every day.
