Why 6, 8, 12 week programs WORK

Why do 6, 8 or 12 week programs work?

WELL, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF REASONS. WHICH WE WILL COVER TOGETHER, THROUGH THIS ARTICLE.

Have you ever completed a 6, 8, or 12 week program, or maybe know someone who has?

If not, perhaps you have have seen some transformation photos. Start--->End
 
There have been hundreds, if not thousands of people who have successfully undergone a body transformation through this process.

BUT WHY DOES IT WORK AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT/BETTER THAN JUST STICKING TO A REGULAR ROUTINE?


1) THERE IS A DEADLINE!

  • This creates a sense of urgency.

  • Basically, we hit "Go time"

  • No more mucking around

Once the start date gets established, we essentially get a proverbial smack in the face, that change is about to come. Which it is!

If you have goals that have been on your mind for a while, then this can help bring them to the forefront and start placing it as a higher priority to actually accomplish them.

2) Rules or certain criteria are formed

These can be outlined directly by your coach, or in conjunction with you to help establish which habits need to be modified or eliminated from your life.

Why change the habits, though?

Because what you have been doing, clearly isn't working!

  • No alcohol during the week.
  • Drink 2L of water per day
  • No carbs after 6PM
  • 1 cheat meal per week

These are all examples of some rules which can be applied and followed to make sure you stay on point and head in the direction for your goals.

Pretty powerful, right?

3) Your goal is clearly identified

When you sit down and think about what you want and WHY you want it, your focus becomes crystal clear.

This is why it's important that you take the time to figure out what it would mean for you to achieve your goal.

Some questions you need to answer;

  1. What do you want to change about your body? 
  2. Why do you want to change it (What effect will it have on your mind/body/health)?
  3. When do you want to see the changes by?
  4. What are you willing to sacrifice to make these changes happen?

Skip this part, and you won't have the necessary motivation, or clarity on where you want to take your body.

My advice.

Sit down, take 5-10 mins and clearly map out what you want, by answering (in detail) the above questions.


 

4) Periodic check-ins and progress updates

These can be in the form of weekly weigh-ins, fortnightly measurements and also by taking before and after photos.
 
If you leave the gap between check-ins too long, you don't receive the vital feedback and data to back up what you have been doing.

Is it working? Is it effective? Do you need to change something?

Having set dates to check in with your coach provides you with extra incentive to stay on track and follow the plan. 
 
Get off track too often and your results will reflect that.

With all of the above information, you should now be armed with plenty of information to make an educated decision.
