"If I exercise, I can _________________"
"If I exercise, I can _________________" (Fill in the blank)
I want to take you on a little journey, inside your brain.
Well, inside what goes on inside a lot of peoples brains.
When it comes to exercise, we as humans, are very good at telling ourselves a story.
One such story is;
"If I exercise, I can eat ___________" (Insert your favourite food).
Little do you know that this type of thinking actually sets you back.
It actually takes you further away from your goal.
It's the same as one step forward, two (or even three) steps back.
And the more often you do this, the more you go backwards.
This is why it can feel and be so frustrating to lose weight and change your body.
You exercise harder and harder.
You train more often.
You search for more information.
You seek a different opinion or strategy.
You read more articles.
You watch more videos.
You restrict calories even further.
You'll try (and do) almost anything to make progress.
To see the number on the scales go down.
To be able to go down a hole on your belt.
To get into that next clothing size.
To view positive changes in your body.
To feel confident in the body you have and the person you see in the mirror every day.
You've thought about and maybe even tried...
Juice cleanses. Detoxes. Shakes. Body wraps. Vibration machines.
They are all things you would use if they would help.
Here is the good news.
The solution you seek is right in front of you.
It's staring you in the face.
You just need to open your eyes. Fully.
You take one positive action toward your goals. Let's say, exercise.
And then you reward yourself with loads of calories, via poor food choices, takeaway and/or alcohol.
You did a good job, so you say, "I've earned this".
But the reward you provide yourself outweighs the initial output and effort you put in.
Let's say you go to the gym and train for an hour. You burn 600 calories.
Then you head home and order some Domino's, because "you earned it".
You order a Pepperoni pizza and devour the whole thing in one sitting.
That pizza you smashed downed, is 1,120 calories.
You need to re-read that.
ONE THOUSAND
ONE HUNDRED
AND
TWENTY
CALORIES.
That's almost as much as some people eat in an entire day.
That might be close to your required calorie intake to lose weight.
And you just ate it for one meal. In one go!
So now you are way over your calorie target for the day.
Resulting in a weight-gain scenario.
Still struggling to see how (or why) you can't lose the weight??
You make bad food choices because you did some exercise.
