Personal Training Atwell

One Atwell resident is making great progress with his strength and fitness in our personal training program. The man in question, is Fulla Strength and Conditioning student, Brad Webb (pictured).

 
 

This Atwell local travels twice a week to our private strength conditioning facility in Bertram to receive expert personal training and strength coaching.

Brad first started with us back in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength since joining. He had used other personal trainers and tried other gyms before, but he just felt like another number. After repeated back injuries — caused by deadlifting at a facility with bigger class sizes — he knew he needed proper 1-1 coaching. It was important for him to receive the attention to detail on his form and to finally get his technique dialled in. So he reached out to an expert, a strength coach, who places a huge emphasis on the correct weightlifting mechanics.

The first step he took was to come in for an Initial Consultation. We did this to get a clear and accurate starting point for his health and fitness. He then completed our onboarding program, Foundations Of Fitness (where we simplify strength training), and then signed up for our long-term personal training program called “STRONG AF”.

It’s not only the gains in strength that have stood out, he has also boosted his cardio. The way he has done this is via parkrun — a local 5km run on most Saturday mornings, plus completing several running events, like Run For A Reason and the Perth City To Surf.

Engaging in our personal training has kept him accountable to his goals and gives Brad his time back as he doesn’t have to worry about what to do for exercise. He leaves the “what should I do in the gym?” to us. All he needs to do is show up with a good attitude, hit the numbers on his program, and see tangible progress by following the plan.

Brad has been chopping wood, putting in the work, and practising some movements he wants to master, such as the chin-up.

I remember one afternoon Brad walked in for his session and he told me he’d gone for his usual walk in the morning, and tried a chin-up at the local park in Atwell — and he got it!

It’s a testament to his consistent work ethic and the fact he is very coachable.

A typical schedule for him looks like this. After work, he gets home, changes into his training gear, packs his bag and comes from Atwell to FullaSC HQ, to a personalised program that is tailored for his body and goals.

He lifts weights and strength trains 2xweek — twice at our facility in Bertram via 1-1 personal training. On the other days, he will either walk his dog or do some rucking (weighted walking).

It’s not about doing lots of different exercises or trying to constantly mix things up in the gym — it’s about doing the simple things savagely well. Brad takes pride in his weightlifting technique and pays attention to the details. He does this well, as his extensive list of results shows.

It’s been great to see the evolution and progression in Brad’s technique, strength, and fitness by attending a few PT sessions a week. He has truly bought into the philosophy and culture we promote, which hinges on proper lifting mechanics as priority #1.
